    WHAT EXCITING EVENTS...

    for a run-of-the-mill Tuesday!

    • The public announcement from QuicKutz about some beautiful stuff on the horizon!
    • AND...I learned a new Silhouette trick!

    I'm exhausted just thinking about all of it! {LOL}

    FIRST - you girls are lovin' you some fonts! Amazing selection, great sizes and PRICES that can't be beat! Just remember, these font prices are only until the end of August. Then normal prices will take effect. So if you're deciding between Central Park, Teriyaki and Miss Muffet - do so quickly! {If you're crazy like me - you'll just take 'em all!}

    SECOND - QuicKutz finally released a little information to the public about their CHA release next week. Can I just tell you - WHOA NELLY! This is going to be so much fun! Let me run down what I know, and can tell you, so far.

    Here is the new site - announcing "L". L stands for letterpress. Check out their site - poke around a bit - then come back.

    {Go ahead, I'll wait!}

    If you've never heard of letterpress, let me tell you what I know. I actually took a class in college where we studied the history {a la Johannes Gutenberg}, the designs, the techniques AND got to work on dusty old letterpress machines. It's an old, old, old, printing technique that is GORGEOUS. Think elegance, think cutting edge, think tre-chic! Here is a little bit of historical background to peruse during your afternoon coffee break.

    Letterpress printing uses image plates, sticky ink and thick, soft paper. Combine these elements and you get a crisply debossed image in the front side of your paper...with only vague signs of an image on the other side of the paper. It's gorgeous!

    Here are some images that I stole borrowed from the "L" website.

    You WILL NEED AN EPIC SIX to work these new add-ons. It's essential. Don't say I didn't warn you! This Letterpress Starter Kit will be available for pre-order soon on the Scrapy Land web-site, and will include all you need to get started. Ink, brayer, paper, plates, dies and spacers.

    Love that they are going to make it so easy to get going!

    Here are a few samples of the image plates that will initially be available. This is the "Everyday" plate. LOVE the chandelier and the damask background. This is definitely getting used for December bridal shower announcements I have to do!

    And speaking of bridal shower - YEP - I'm doing the wedding invitations as well. Look at these flourishes, swirls and doo-dads. Add in some monogram letters {available on another plate} and I'll be all set!

    Some samples of ink colors. Love that they included gold and silver in their initial release {of course, love also that there are three greens!}.

    Here are a few finished pieces, again from the "L" web-site:

    A wedding invitation. Love the repeated flourish and the colored names. Gorgeous!

    Some everyday stationary. Think of the gifts...again with the mind racing!

    And a sweet baby shower invite. I think that stitching is absolutely adorable!

    The possibilities are going to be endless.

    Now don't say "I'm not a card-maker Susan." Just don't. Because when I think about embellishments and phrases for scrapbook pages...my mind races. Heritage pages, wedding pages, family tree pages, elegant new baby pages...the elements you'll be able to create that are elegant, classic and unique are limitless! The thick paper, the rich colors and the classic images will work with all kinds of themes!

    Needless to say - I'm VERY excited.  But you already knew that...didn't you?! {LOL}

    And finally, THIRD - I got an email Sunday night from my friend Carole in Virginia. She was flipping through the QK online reader's gallery and saw a page that she wanted to recreate. Actually, she wanted to recreate the Silhouette-cut title. So I fiddled with it all morning Monday and got the look recreated so I could explain it to Carole.

    Here is the page I put together, using the title that I made...

    This is my cutie-patootie nephew, who I'm going to see Saturday in Orlando. {Can't WAIT!} I'm going to take this page to him, and he'll roll his eyes at me and say "how embarrassing Aunt Susie"...but I know he'll love it. Love the look of the welded border-and-letters. Easy to do and fun to design.

    And just to be P.C. here, it wasn't until after I went back to the QK gallery to compare my results that I noticed the inspiration piece was made by a friend of mine in Missouri. {Thanks for the creative nudge!}

    Do you like that look? Does Carole need to share the instructions I emailed her?

    SOOOO - after this ridiculously long post - what do you think? July's release! QK's big news! Fun Silhouette tricks!

    See - I told you - what a Tuesday it was!

    EDITED TO ADD - I forgot to tell you last Friday that Starting Blox #25 pages are due to me by Tuesday, July 28th.

    I'm here for your habit...
