Is this stinkin' cute or what?
March 10, 2009 at 9:15 AM that is oh-so-stinkin'-cute! AND oh-so-totally-versatile!
I just know you're going to love it!
This project will get your creative juices flowing! Can't wait to see what YOU do with it. The possibilities are endless - and the different takes on it could be amazing!
Brenda made this book last month for her dear husband's birthday. She had so much fun putting it together, and it was such a big hit with her hubby, that she decided to share it with us. Maybe not so that you could all copy her ideas exactly, but more so you'd get some some fun ideas of your own. Because let's face it - our husbands are pretty good guys. And if they can receive a fun gift, made with all of our scrappy supplies...it's a good thing for sure!
Of course, this idea isn't just for husbands. OH NO! How about for:
So here we go - "Brenda's Amazing Coupon Book"
CUTENESS! For the coupon book cover, she used: GC Boo for You, QK Dragonfly font, QK Tall Present, the retired QK Present (but this or these would work too!) and the QK Club Die Party Hat. I LOVE how just a little bit of white gel pen on each letter makes them POP off of the page! She is the world's best inker too - everything gets ink and everything looks amazing! What a great cover this is. The pages of this book are 5"x8" - and each page got a score line (using her Scor-Pal) at the 1" horizontal mark! The score line just makes it easier to turn the pages!
Here is another shot of the front cover:
Now of course, your cover would say WHATEVER is appropriate for your occasion:
LOVE IT! For this page, she used: GK Bedtime Boo, QK BBQ Tools, QK Apron, the retired QK Chef Hat, the retired QK Book (but this one could be a RECIPE book too!), QK Storybook Font, QK 12" Bead Border. Pretty straight-forward...and totally adorable! My husband would LOVE a menu-on-demand coupon, but he won't be getting THIS particular one from me. Obviously Brenda's much nicer than me!Next up - for the outdoor enthusiast in your life:
SWEET! My husband doesn't even fish - and I still think this page is adorable! Brenda used: GK Boo for You, GK Gone Fishin', GK Gardening Boo (for the boots), QK Bug Net, QK Tool Box, BK Cameron Mini Font, QK Border Squares & Dots. CUTER THAN CUTE! I'm thinking I'll make up this coupon for MYSELF, tell everyone I'm going fishing - and just go scrap!
Those are the first 2 coupons in her book. I told you they were amazing! If you think these two are cute though, wait until you see the rest of them! She has one coupon that uses THIS DIE, and one coupon that uses THIS DIE. And one coupon....NAH, the rest I'm keeping a secret for now! You'll just have to check back tomorrow! And the next day, AND THE NEXT DAY!
What kind of coupons would YOU make to give a loved one? Let's hear your ideas - because if YOU have an idea and SHE has an idea - when you share them you've both got TWO IDEAS!
Leave a comment, ask a question, bug Brenda for a die-inking/penning video, tell her she's too good to her husband or ask her to send YOU one of those menu-on-demand coupons. SO FUN! Brenda just plain ROCKS - and I'm so glad she's here. Aren't YOU?

click here for the "A Day of Fishing" page
You can just print these straight out to cardstcok, and start adding your dies! Remember, the pages are 5x8, but you score 1" in from the left hand edge! Then we want to see COUPON ideas! Dig through your dies, see what you've got - make your coupons fit your dies!
March 3, 2009 at 7:30 AM in that there is a lot to do - and only four days left to do it all in!
What the heck happened to Monday?
Thanks for welcoming Brenda so warmly yesterday. I just knew you girls would love her! We have big BIG plans, and we're going to get them started next Monday. Sure, I taunted you with it yesterday, and we mentioned it on the message boards last night - but I just can't wait. I have to break out with an OFFICIAL TEASER.
Right here, right now!
Oh sure, it's sneakie and it's small and it's only snippets of a look-see...but it IS a teaser. You can't argue with me on that one. Suffice it to say - if you haven't ordered any of the awesome Go Kreate dies...you might want to rethink that decision! SOON!
At this point, I'd recommend at least 2 of these:
I'd also recommend giving all of your other Go Kreate dies, your QuicKutz dies and your Spellbinders dies a once-over...just so you know what you have and where they all are. This idea is going to take OFF and you won't want to be left behind...searching for your retired QK Chef's Hat die or the QK Tool Box that you've only used once before!
One more thing for today - just as a follow up to Saturday's cute card! When I finish one project, I always try to make another project with the left over supplies. It gets something else made - which is GOOD. And the more I use up, the less I have to clean up - which is BETTER! So I had a stack of QK Galoshes in front of me all day Sunday - and my daughter busted out with "mom, it looks BOOT-IFUL in your scrap room!" That was all it took - 12 cards later my mess was all but used up!
These were quick and easy...because I did them assembly-line style. I used: QK Chick-a-Dee font, QK Galosh, QK Flower w/ Stem and my Spellbinders Scalloped Ovals.
I pulled out my white gel pen - trying to mimic the awesome pen-work that Kristen and Brenda do. But I definitely need some more practice. It's a skill - and I'll get there. For now - I think I'll stick with my Grey Copics though and leave the white pens to my amazing guest designers!
January 22, 2009 at 11:29 AM so I have some new "size keys" to show you today.
I got a package from Scrapy Land...full of a Spellbinders order I placed late last week! But the box had a few extra goodies from Dani. {thanks man!} Namely, the three newest Scrapy Land Exclusive dies.
First, the QuicKutz Panda (Bamboo)...
I went over the edges of his white parts with a little light grey chalk. I think it adds just a very subtle definition! Now I need to do a card that says "Life is full of PANDA-monium!". {grin}
Next, the Go Kreate Pegasus/Unicorn (Mystic)...
Here "he" is with a full pair of wings (cut one wing twice). He also comes with a horn - to turn him into a Unicorn without wings at all.
BUT, don't forget...
"he" can also be just a horse. Yep, leave him nekkid of all accessories and he's a graceful, leaping stallion! I love a die that is versatile! And this one is like getting 3-dies-in-1! COOL!
And finally, the QuicKutz Piano...
which goes together so easily. I thought, by the looks of it, it would have more pieces to assemble. But it's really pretty simple. To make it even easier, I only cut mine twice. Once out of black and once out of white. I used my silver paint pen and colored in the foot peddles, and the under-the-lid. Easy!
So there you have the newest exclusives...next to the Scrapy Land Key for size reference. I hope that makes your purchasing decisions easier. I've got some cute Valentine's Day ideas using all of these. But those are for later next week. You know, AFTER CHA.
Speaking for CHA...hmmm...well, oh never mind! Remind me later and I'll fill you in! {wink wink}
It's so fun being so bad!
Thanks to the bunches of you that have joined the Scrapy Land Facebook Group. We're having a great time. I think we're all learning together, which makes it easier! But if you're around later tonight - I just might turn on my video camera again. You know, here at my desk.
My desk that's in my scrapbook room. The one that I've been working at all day long with new dies! Bunches of brand new dies!
I'm just saying - - -
I'm here for your habit...
Check out the blog this afternoon - I've posted finished die-cuts of the SL Exclusive Panda, Piano and Pegasus. And I'm brainstorming title ideas to use with all of them. If you have any suggestions, leave a comment and I'll give you full credit! What I meant was, if anyone had any cute/clever suggestions for cards or pages, using these 3 new shapes. For instance my daughter suggested a Valentine Card with the piano on it that says "You hold the keys to my heart". Or how about something with the panda that says, "It's as plain as black and white...you're mine!". Does that make sense? I was just looking to get some fun comments with cute play-on-words.
Exclusives,
Go Kreate,
QuicKutz
January 19, 2009 at 9:50 AM when you can inspire yourself?
I did just that with this week's Starting Blox - and I can't stop creating! I'm obsessed (or possessed as the case may be)!
But I can only show you a few of the things that I made last night. I'm sorry. If I showed you all of them, I'd likely get my hand slapped. You know, new shapes, new fonts, new "other things"...new "cool things"...new "fun stuff". Shhhhhh - big secrets coming in from everywhere!
Just know, that I'm having FUN! And you are definitely going to want to be sitting by your computer on Sunday. Because when Scrapy Land hits the CHA floor - it's going to be "GAME ON".
Well, I don't know if "game" is the right word. Because you know it's work, right? Not a game at all! It's work, it's drudgery, it's meetings, it's wheeling, it's dealing, it's celebrities, it's make-n-takes, it's pictures, it's squealing, oh yeah, it's WORK!
{grin}
So let's see, the two things I CAN share with you today are both based on yesterday's Starting Blox...and one of them is even a CARD. Yes - because the Starting Blox can inspire all kinds of things...scrapbook pages, greeting cards, posters for 7th grade World Reports on Venezuela and photo arrangements down the hallway to the kids' bedrooms.
Lots of things can result from an inspiration piece!
This scrapbook page is 12"x12"...and is full of sub-par photos. Most of them were blurry because we were laughing so hard...but when printed this small (2"x3") they look fine!
For this page I used: Basic Grey - Sultry, my QK Diesel font, and one of the NEW-SOON-TO-BE-IN-STOCK 12" borders from Go Kreate (the little frilly piece on the journaling block is a piece from the GK border). This was a 20 minute page - it took me longer to convert all of the pictures to black and white, than it did to complete the page. One quick-trick I did, that is hard to see in this picture, is I layered 3 borders on top of each other. In person, it gives the look of a chipboard element, and adds so much to a very simple page! Try it - I think you'll like it!And yesterday was my girlfriend's birthday - so last night (yeah, I'm always late like that) I sat down to whip up a cute card!
For this I used: a 6x6 card base, the QK Cupcake, the QK Happy Birthday and a bunch of little sprinkles that I cut from the "O" in the QK SM Moxie!
(and just a note here - when I cut out all of the sprinkles, I slipped the "M-N-O-P" die in my Squeeze and went to town squeezing. So while I love my Revolution, there are still plenty of times that I pull out my Squeeze! And it's usually when I need multiples of the exact same die!)
So another page, and a birthday card - both inspired by a simple little line-drawing! You can do it to - try it on anything that you're playing with today. Small page, big page, square card, rectangle card...it's all perfectly fine!
If you have any questions - you know where to find me. I've already gotten one page submission for this week's Blox challenge! Way to go Christine!
I'm here for your habit...
Edited To Add...Jenn asked about what printer I use to print out 2x3 pictures. It's not my printer that does it - it's my photo program...I use iPhoto on my Mac...but I'm pretty sure in most photo editing programs you could select a custom size. If not - I've also just printed "WALLETS" at Costco. They are just about the same size! Hope that helps Jenn...

QuicKutz,
