    OH THANK HEAVEN...

    for video Day Seven!

    {Actually, thank heaven for Brenda, who helped me by doing this episode!}

    It's Monday, and we're on the downhill side of our journey...

    WHEW!

    Brenda did a fun little project, that I think kids would love helping you with. She is "shizzling" acrylic tags with her Epic, an embossing folder and her stash of Stickles.

    Here are some photographs to help you get a better close-up peek.

    She started with a boring ol' snowflake shape, {her Clear Scraps acrylic tags came this shape, she did NOT cut them}

    And using this Embossing Folder she ran it through her Epic Six using the DARK GREY embossing platform.

    Then from the de-bossed, or back side, she filled in the swirls with Stickles.

    Here is one she took a step farther, by using Stickles to literally smear over the area that is the hat!

    ATTENTION*WARNING*TAKE NOTICE*...The acrylic tags she used are from a company called "Clear Scraps". These tags are thin - just a bit thicker than the plastic from a QK package. This is flexible acrylic. It is not, I REPEAT NOT, the hard acrylic that is used for acrylic album pages. I do not want to get an email from someone who tried to force feed a rigid piece of acrylic into their Epic.

    This is thin, flexible, acrylic. THIN I tell you!

    In fact, if you can get your QK packaging die-cut into shapes {I go to my LSS and use their big steel ruled dies and their machines and it cuts like buttah!} this is a great way to recycle all of your packaging. I personally do not try to use my QK dies to die-cut my QK packaging. Too hard on the "blade" and a bit dulling, I fear...*WARNING OVER, THANK YOU!*

    Now that we've established that you are not going to force your Epic to do something it wasn't meant to do - I hope you'll try this. I think kids would have a blast making up some package tags or ornaments for their friends. My daughter has already picked out the teal and black Stickles she is going to use for embossed snowflakes for her friends.

    Dani has an AMAZING price for Stickles - the Distressed are only $2.25, the Glitters are only $1.75 and the Ices are $3.19. WOW-EE! If you're brand new to Stickles, any of the following would be great holiday colors...

    Ruby Slippers {red}
    Champagne {a gorgeous gold}
    Silver {guess!}
    Magenta {deep, dark red}
    Lime {you saw this one coming}
    Picket Fence {opaque white}
    Pine Needles {dark evergreen}
    Frosted Lace {love this one, icy clear}

    This is a quick and easy project. I think I'm going to make up some wine bottle tags. The other great thing? MAILABLE! Love it!

    Thanks Brenda for helping me out this week!

    If you have any questions about embossing thin, flexible acrylic, please leave us a comment here and we'll get back to you with a comment answer. If you've got another idea for using this technique - I hope you'll share that as well.

    Tomorrow morning, "12 VQKX" LIVE! at 10:00 am MST. {That's 9:00 am in California, 10:00 am in Colorado, 11:00 am in Texas and noon in Florida}. I hope you can join me then. Especially if you're planning a holiday get-together, yet this month. Party items galore tomorrow that you won't want to miss!

    A LITTLE THURSDAY FUN...

    to get you in the scrappin' mood for the weekend.

    You know, because the weekend is almost here! {wink, wink}

    Miss Brenda has done it again, she's whipped up an awesome Scrapy Land Video to share today. It's for a cute little project that you and your kids or grandkids could make together. Very simple, but quite stunning.

    And the sky is the limit as far as "shizzle" goes. Stickles, glitter, tinsel, bling, brads, paint, Fun Flock, puff paint...OH the possibilities.

    So grab a cup of coffee and watch how she does it...

    The dies she used here are the Spellbinders Shapeabilities Snowflakes. But you could use the exact same technique with these snowflakes or these snowflakes. {they just wouldn't have as many layers!} Lots of possibilities!

    She did want me to clarify for you that she embossed each snowflake before she assembled her project. Die-cut with her QK Epic Six and then embossed with the Spellbinders Tan Embossing Pad, that is. The embossing steps adds a great deal of detail and texture.

    What a great project this would be to do with a group of Girl Scouts, the neighborhood kids or an elementary school class. Easy to prepare ahead of time, low cost supplies and still the effect of every snowflake being different!

    {OHHH...Wouldn't these be adorable gift-bag tags in your neighborhood or under the tree?}

    Thanks Brenda! You crafty Diva, you! And even though it was 87° here in AZ yesterday, I am going to make a few of these to get me thinking wintry thoughts! Let's leave her some comment-love ladies!

    Just a reminder - Scrapy Land Starting Blox are due today. Today at noon MST. That's 2:00pm in Florida and 1:00 pm in Illinois. Let's get on it ladies - there is a set of dies to be won!

    I'm up to my eyeballs in SLVC 2.0 prep-work...but my pictures are ordered, I have lots of adhesive refills and the M&M container is full. I mean, I do have my priorities!

    SO MUCH FRIDAY FUN...

    that you won't believe your eyes.

    In fact, this one post should really be several separate posts! But I'm taking the entire weekend off and I wanted this to hold you through the next several days.

    First - I want to show you the project I made with the pumpkin faces I showed you yesterday. The faces I cut from black vinyl, with my Silhouette SD. Here is what they became...

    {remember, you can click on any of the photographs for a larger view}

    Is this cute, or what? It's made from one 12"x 12" sheet of paper that is simply scored like this...

    Score corner to corner, then at 4" and 8" from each side. Make your diagonal folds go backwards, and your straight folds go forwards. Punch a hole in each corner and pull the corners in to the center. {I decided to set eyelets in each hole, and used green ribbon - kind of added to the "stem effect"}.

    Each 4"x 4" square side got a vinyl pumpkin face. Applied easily with the QK Transfer Paper. Then I stuffed the base with green crinkle paper and added in a bunch of goodies! This holds a bunch of stuff...snacks, trinkets, candy, post-it pads, gift cards, etc.

    The sky's the limit with this! Try one for yourself and let me know what you do with it!

    What follows are a bunch of other "container" ideas for the upcoming holiday. All of them easy, all of them totally doable with supplies you likely have on hand. My kinds of projects!

    These cuties are from Brenda...

    M&M treat bags! Grab some cellophane bags, measure the width, cut your cardstock tall enough to double-over, staple and embellish. A snap!

    There are so many great NEW Halloween dies from QK - but don't forget we have some amazing ones from previous years. Here, Brenda used the 2x2 Vampire, 2x2 Mrs. Claus, 2x2 Witch's hat and 2x2 Frankenstein {I love how she grungied up his face with black ink...CUTE!}. She added her sentiments with the Chicken Noodle font.

    CUTE and simple. Usable and CUTE! {Thanks Brenda!}

    Up next are some adorable bags from Miss Gail. She watched last week's episode of Scrapy Land LIVE!, took the idea and tweaked it. FOUR TIMES! Simply amazing...

    The Big Bat - QK Banner border, QK Nesting Diamonds {cut in half} and QK Nesting Circles.

    Ms. Witch - QK Grass border {the negative shape}, QK Nesting Circles {eyes, eyelids and nostrils} Spellbinders Ovals {for nose} QK Picket Fence {negative shapes for teeth}.

    Boo the Ghost - QK Clouds border and QK Nesting Circles

    The Great Pumpkin - QK Rev Halloween Shortkutz {which is out of stock, but I think this would work just as well} and Spellbinders Vine border.

    Gail accented almost everything with her Copics. Super job Gail - it does my heart proud when someone takes an idea I've throw out there and runs with it. Well Gail just logged a half-marathon! {Thanks for sharing Gail!}

    Then my friend Veronica checked in, with some easy ideas too. {Pretty darn-adorable projects from someone who lives in a country that doesn't celebrate Halloween!}

    Black Gift Bag - Silhouette downloads, the welded title and the cute boots.

    Candy Topper - Revolution Spider and some Silhouette Print & Cut downloads circle punched {I've been teasing Veronica about her candy choice here...since jelly beans aren't considered a Halloween candy. What would be a fun Halloween candy to send her? M&Ms, chocolate eyeballs? Ideas anyone? LOL!}

    Halloween Gift Bag - Silhouette downloads for title, Print & Cut images and the Revolution Spider again. {Tack så mycket Veronica!}

    And finally - a Scrapy Land Starting Blox! I know, I know - I took last week off! But if you knew why you'd understand! {wink, wink} So on top of all these fun ideas to copy and tweak and play with, here is Blox #32 to start working on...

    All patterned paper! No cardstock, except for your dies and your journaling strips/block! Are you up for the challenge? I am - I'll share my ideas with you next week!

    These will be due next Thursday, October 29th at 6pm PDT. Since everyone took the week off, I am expecting stacks of pages!

    Thanks to all of my Halloween Helpers today - fun projects, easily reproduced and made to work for what you need. I LOVE IT!

    If you have any questions for these ladies, please leave a comment here. If you have other suggestions or ideas for seasonal projects - please do the same. I'm off to photograph a wedding, watch the high school marching band compete at Arizona State this weekend and create some semblance of order in this scrap-room! I'll catch you on Monday!

    THE EYES HAVE IT...

    and I'm here to oblige! {get it, eyes...sneak peeks from yesterday...spooky eyes!}

    Okay, never mind - I need more coffee!

    Everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE, wants to see Brenda's Gypsy projects. Eleven emails yesterday, from those that already have their Gypsys, begging me to tell them more about these cute projects. Early!

    They wanted the ultimate sneak-peek...can you believe that?

    {LOL}

    I can believe it! Because Brenda's little treat-bag projects are adorable. But I fought off the troops, and waited until today to share the full sized pictures of these cuter-than-cute projects!

    Now I don't have a Gypsy...so I'm relaying this information second-hand. If after seeing these projects you have specific Gypsy-project questions, you'll have to leave a comment-question for Brenda. Because basically I'm clueless.

    Only about the Gypsy though!

    Here is how cute Brenda's Gypsy is looking right now...

    This is the Cherry Blossom Silicone Sleeve. CUTENESS!

    The picture is a teeny bit blurry because Brenda is twittering with excitement about her new Gypsy. The features, the ease and the portability of this fun little machine! She worked on these projects last week at the Powder Puff football game and at the doctor's office! Scrappin' on the go! Gotta love it.

    {The doctor's office visit was not a result of the Powder Puff football game...no worries!}

    Here is a close-up screen shot of the Gypsy in action. At the top, she is designing the inverse-scalloped strip of cardstock that will form the actual bag for these projects. The cylinder, if you will. The bottom image is overlapping rectangles to make a Star of David shape. When the points are connected this hexagon will form the bottom-of-the-bag.

    But let's look at the finished projects, and I think you'll get where we are going with this.

    OH FOR CUTENESS...

    Frankenstein, Jack-O-Lantern and Black Cat. Each one stuffed with wonderful, bite-sized chocolaty goodness!

    Do you see the inverse-scalloped bag? There is a Scor-Pal crease at every scallop's point, which then folds into a hexagon shaped "tube". The bottom-of-the-bag is just glued into place, with tabs from the rectangles.

    Once your bag is created, it's all about the shizzle. And trust me, Brenda knows shizzle. Cricut shapes, Cricut designs, QK dies, QK shapes, hand cut fringes, ink and chalk and that wonderful white gel pen of hers!

    Wicked Witch, Ms. Vampiress and Mr. Mummy! The details are adorable and make each and every one of these totally unique!

    And just to clear up any lingering confusion - here is a picture of the bottom-of-the-bag. From the overlapping rectangle picture above...

    Make a bit more sense now? How these all go together? It's just a matter of picturing it in your mind, drawing it out on the Gypsy software and letting it work with your Cricut.

    EDITED TO ADD: the finished sizes of the bags themselves is roughly 5.5" tall. Hope that helps a bit!

    But what's with that red bottom-of-the-bag up there, you're asking. Oh that's one final bag Brenda made. Just to show what you could try, if Halloween isn't your thing...

    Red bag, black belt, white hunk that has been embossed. So cute! I think these would make adorable little treat bags for kids to leave out for Santa himself!

    Brenda is lovin' her Gypsy. She's taking it everywhere with her, and will share more fun creations in the future. If you're anxious to get your hands on a Gypsy place your order at Scrapy Land today.

    {Thanks Brenda for the amazing projects...you rock the electronic cutting world!}

    If you have questions, leave us a comment and we'll get back to you with a comment-answer.

    I'll have to call Brenda and let her know you've asked something though. She'll likely be sitting in the grocery story parking lot with her Gypsy! {LOL}
