February 20, 2012 at 11:11 AM A "STARTING BLOX" CHALLENGE...
in honor of President's Day.
{Okay, not really in honor of President's Day, hahaha, but in honor of the fact that the house is quiet and I had some time to scrap today!}
I've gotten bunches of requests this year for a Starting Blox. So I thought it was finally time to sit down and create a new one. And since I had my Silhouette Cameo all hooked up and sitting on my desk, I did the entire process in the new software.
I designed my Blox layout on the screen, then chose elements from my Silhouette library to place into the design. It went together so quickly. So here it is - the first "Starting Blox" for 2012...
Lots of room here for pattern papers, shaped papers, or cut patterns. You could put one picture in each of the eight spaces, OR use a couple of the spaces for memorabilia or embellishments. The choice is totally up to you.
Here is what I did with the Starting Blox...
I cut the "12x12 hearts background" from the Silhouette library. Also from the Silhouette library is the AWESOME "word cards" and the "February" word. I created my own title using two fonts on my computer, Billibong and Haettenschweiler. I took the "torn notebook blank" file from Silhouette, and welded three of them together to make my space for journaling. At the last minute I realized I hadn't put my year on the page, so I grabbed my Die-Versions "Everyday" Complements die, and die-cut 2011. The little hearts at each end of the date line are what came out of the paper at the top of the page.
The striped pattern paper on the bottom half of my layout is Echo Park from their "Happy Days" collection.
So - now that a brand spankin' new Starting Blox is out there, I think we need to have a little contest! Here are the details...
- February 20th {that's today!} through February 29th {leap year baby!}. Entries must be uploaded by midnight MST.
- there is a limit of two entries per person
- use whatever supplies you have and love, but you get an extra entry if your Starting Blox uses a Die-Versions die-cut {fonts, Whispers, SoSents, Complements, etc.}
- share the Starting Blox Challenge with your scrappy friends, because the more that enter the more prizes I'll give away.
- I have a bunch of CHA goodies that came home with me - dies, paper, chipboard, pins, embellies, stamps, and more dies. I will assemble fun little padded envelopes of love for all of our winners!
- I will give away ONE ENVELOPE OF LOVE for every 20 entries posted. The first prize is a given, even if we only have 19 entries. But I'm sure we will have more than that!
- In order to post your page{s} with the linky software below, either post your page{s} on your personal blog, on a public gallery, or on a hosting site like Photobucket.com. Then just follow the instructions below.
That's how I'm starting off the Blox for 2012...with a prize laden bang! Who's up for the challenge? If you have any questions about the challenge, about entries, about your Silhouette Cameo, or about the nickle I found on my birthday, please leave a questions-comment below and I'll get back to you with a comment-answer!
EDITED TO ADD: This is Phyllis' page. I couldn't get it to show up in the Linky system below, so I am adding it here so everyone can see her cute page!
I'm here for your habit...

Glad you're excited, I was pretty excited myself! But now the pressure is on - I will expect to see a page {or two} from you!!!
And definitely check out Instagram - it's a free app, it works directly with Facebook, and the picture filters are adorable!!
HAVE FUN!!! And thank you :)
Doncha just LOVE the Cameo?? I wouldn't part with mine for anything. Now if it could just run the vacuum... LOL Gail
{At least that is what I keep telling myself AND my hubby!}
:)
Just kidding. My plan's to spend less time & money scrapbook shopping & more time scrapping (w/ dreams of making it to a company's design team) :-D
Susan, thx for the Instagram plug. I've installed it, maybe I'll get to play with it on my scrapbook retreat, in the GA mountains, next weekend!!!
But now that you've outted yourself - I'm going to hold you accountable to your goals! Just watch, you'll do it - I have confidence!
Instagram rocks - my fave filters are the Lomo-fi and Nashville. Kelvin is cool too, and sometimes really bright pictures look awesome in 1977! Oh heck, they are ALL fun! We'll expect to see them on a layout SOON missy! {wink, wink}
:)
When you have your image uploaded to DropBox...choose the string of text that starts with http//:
that is the URL code. I know they call it something else, IM or EMAIL I think, but it is indeed the URL and will work fine in this Linky software!
Thanks for playing along!!!! Can't wait to see who else joins in the fun!
:)
I'm hoping to see more bloxes. Thanks Susan!
