THE FOURTH DAY OF FEBRUARY...

and we're still celebrating.

{I wasn't sure I had it in me - LOL!}

A great LIVE! DEMO last night, and a LIVE! CLASS on the schedule for tonight.

6pm MST, February 4th
{5pm CA, 7pm TX and 8pm FL}
supplies: one piece of 12x12 cardstock, one coordinating piece
of patterned paper, a generic nesting shape of your choice {circle, square, heart, oval}
your favorite generic border {scallop, dots, flourish}, Scor-Pal and adhesive

We'll be making a card that is so gosh-darn cute. And you won't believe how easy it is! Hope to see you in the studio tonight. NO PASSWORD is necessary, just follow the UStream link in the sidebar.

Okay, I admit, I have stamps and ink on the brain this week. It's the building anticipation I think. Luckily I'm not the only one who is having inky thoughts this week. Look what Jennifer sent me yesterday...

Jennifer has been a fan of "The Greeting Farm" stamps for quite a while. So she was thrilled when Scrapy Land announced that they are "COMING SOON". Holy guacamole are these images adorable.

But this one is my favorite...look at these lime green overalls! {was this intentional JBo?? LOL} So stinkin' cute . Jennifer does a wonderful job with her Copics, and is amassing quite a collection. But then, you can never have too much of a good thing!

The Greeting Farm stamps will be in very soon...I checked with Dani last night. Soon ladies, and you'll be the first to know, I promise!

I just couldn't let all of the shapes and textures I did up last night go to waste. So this morning I made a few cards with the supplies laying in front of me...

I embossed this cardstock last night with the QK Polka Dots folder {love this one, use it all the time!}. This morning I rounded the corners, added some patterned paper scraps, cut my sentiment from the Chicken Noodle font and grabbed my Scalloped Oval Nestabilities.

This image is from Unity Stamps. And they too are COMING SOON! For reals! A couple of quick swashes with some Copics and I was done.

Here are the colors I used...when I'm flying by the seat of my pants early in the morning I tend to use more colors than I normally do. Only because I don't plan...I just start coloring. So don't be shocked by this row of colors. I probably could have eliminated one or two of these if I'd taken a bit more time.

If you're anxious to start collecting The Greeting Farm stamps, you will definitely want to grab an E00 and an E21. These colors are standards for me when coloring skin {DISCLAIMER - I color almost all faces to match my own skin...pasty white Irish girl skin. If you're looking for a more suntanned, olive skinned or less doughy look we'll have to experiment and find different colors for you!}.

I'm ready to start playing with cards. Card show tonight...at least one. Okay, maybe two. Depends on how things pan out the rest of the afternoon. Comments on today's post still count for prizes...so keep 'em coming. THANKS...and if you've asked a comment-question and I haven't answered, shoot me an email. You'll get a quicker answer this week.

And thanks again to Jennifer for sharing her awesome samples of The Greeting Farm images. GOOD STUFF CHICA...thank you!

EDITED TO ADD: The PDFs are now available for Lara's cute food pages and exercise pages. Click here for the post, and then scroll down to her projects. The links are right there. Thanks a million Lara!

I'm here for your habit...

Geez, I missed last nights fun and will miss tonight's too. Y'all have fun without me. We are off to Atlanta for the weekend but when I return I'll have my Starting Blox ready to launch. Happy birthday, Susan since I probably won't be in contact between now and then.

Hi, Susan! Cards tonight-yippee! My favorite thing to make. Thanks for the demo last night. Once I get my flex mat I'll be rarin' to go!

Those stamps are sooo cute! Love that we're making cards tonight! I'll be on time tonight; I've got it straight now-after I missed last nights.

Susan those stamps are just darling. I will I WILL step out of my fear mode in invest in one of those cute stamps when they come out. Question for you. I get confused with the Copic marker selection for a project and I noticed your comment on how many markers you use on that one project - do you aim to keep the colors to four - five? I don't know why something so simple overwhelms me.

Shelly - safe travels to you. Have fun in Atlanta and thanks for the birthday wishes. See you next week!

Gail - YES CARDS! See you tonight!

Dania - Copics can be a bit overwhelming at first. With stamped images that are tiny, like these cocktail ladies, I could have easily gotten away with one color each of fleshy-pink, green and the orangy-red i used for the hair. But I just start in...so the first yellow I picked was a bit too light, so I went over it with a darker yellow. The first green I chose was too minty, so I went over it with a deeper sage...normally I would have tested little "swishes" on a scrap of paper to see the colors, but this morning I just grabbed.

Of course, sometimes using several colors achieves just the look you're going for. It's all about practicing, practicing, and practicing. And not being afraid to color and try goofy things.

We will do a COPICS class in the very near future - after the stamps start arriving. I'll talk more about color selection, layering and collecting colors slowly. We're going to have a lot of fun...especially with these little folks that work so well with QK shapes!

:D

Sorry that I am going to miss the class tonight too! My mom is having knee replacement surgery Monday and we have to go with her to a "joint camp" tonight!

Have fun everyone!

Susan,
How do you keep track of all your copics? Do you have a chart? If so does Dani sell it?

Your B'day is coming up soon. 29 and holding right? LOL

See you at the show tonight. Leave for Iowa tomorrow and I think snow is in the forecast again. Love those stamps. I checked my copics and I had the E00 but have the E21 circled on my chart so I need to get that one. Have fun on your birthday. Keep the fun posts coming.Deborah K

I wasn't able to join in the fun last night but am hoping to do so tonight. I don't have much experience with stamps, a little intimidated I think. I can stamp all day long but then it comes to coloring. Argh! Too afraid I'm going to mess up. You're right Susan, I have to practice, practice, practice!! Oh and hey, Happy Birthday!!!

I'm not a stamper, but seeing Jennifer's cards is motivating. Thanks too to Lara for the PDF files.

Well, I wish you all lots of fun tonight - but 2 a.m. during the week is just too late for me. Hoping for another SL weekend, though ! And I hope that you record - I love making cards.
Greetings from Hamburg,
Ute

Thanks for all the tips last night. Those new stamps are just too cute. Pasty white skin just won't do it for me...any copic suggestions for a nice brown skintone.

Can hardly wait for the card class tonight. "Cute" and "easy" are two of my favorites when it comes to cards.
Last night's demo was epic!(haha) I learned SOOOOO much. Today I'll be calling Quickutz about getting the Flex Mat.

Gem - I dug out my notes from my certification class, and while I don't have any samples I do have written down under "cocoa skin"...E25, E13, E11 and E21. Then I have written down "chocolate skin"...E29, E27 and E13. Based on the colors I'd say cocoa is lighter than chocolate. I'll have to see which of these I have and play this weekend. Thanks for the challenge!

and Kathy - go to this link on the Copic Marker website. http://copicmarker.com/library/ Scroll down to the fourth row - the image on the right is a blank color chart. I print this out onto good coloring cardstock {Neenah} and then I color in the markers that I have. This is usually what I look at when I start to color a project. I can also match cardstock to it or ribbon or buttons. Love having this on hand.

THANKS ladies!

I just love to color! Reminds me of rainy days in elementary school when we got to stay inside for recess and color. So much fun. I quit collecting stamps about a year ago because I have so many, but the Greeting Farm ones are so cute I'll have to start collecting again. Love the one with the girl and that cat.

Don't know if I can make tonight's class. Watched the Epic one today. Hope you're taping the card one also.

Hi Susan: Love what you girls do with the stamps and copics. Unfortunaly I do not have the patient to do that sort of thing, wish I did, but it is just not there for me. I love to look at what other people can do with the copics though.

I wish my Copic coloring looked like that..... even after a class mine doesn't look that way.... need to keep playing.

February 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterBrenda

Thanks Susan for sharing my cards! I am enjoying the copics more and more as I use them and I still think I could use some more for my collection. Loved your cards...it's wonderful when you can put together your samples to make something great! PS the green wasn't on purpose but I knew you would like it!
