July 22, 2009 at 7:52 AM WHAT EXCITING EVENTS...
for a run-of-the-mill Tuesday!
- An amazing July QuicKutz release...great shapes, great embossing, great alphabets!
- The public announcement from QuicKutz about some beautiful stuff on the horizon!
- AND...I learned a new Silhouette trick!
I'm exhausted just thinking about all of it! {LOL}
FIRST - you girls are lovin' you some fonts! Amazing selection, great sizes and PRICES that can't be beat! Just remember, these font prices are only until the end of August. Then normal prices will take effect. So if you're deciding between Central Park, Teriyaki and Miss Muffet - do so quickly! {If you're crazy like me - you'll just take 'em all!}
SECOND - QuicKutz finally released a little information to the public about their CHA release next week. Can I just tell you - WHOA NELLY! This is going to be so much fun! Let me run down what I know, and can tell you, so far.
Here is the new site - announcing "L". L stands for letterpress. Check out their site - poke around a bit - then come back.
{Go ahead, I'll wait!}
If you've never heard of letterpress, let me tell you what I know. I actually took a class in college where we studied the history {a la Johannes Gutenberg}, the designs, the techniques AND got to work on dusty old letterpress machines. It's an old, old, old, printing technique that is GORGEOUS. Think elegance, think cutting edge, think tre-chic! Here is a little bit of historical background to peruse during your afternoon coffee break.
Letterpress printing uses image plates, sticky ink and thick, soft paper. Combine these elements and you get a crisply debossed image in the front side of your paper...with only vague signs of an image on the other side of the paper. It's gorgeous!
Here are some images that I stole borrowed from the "L" website.
You WILL NEED AN EPIC SIX to work these new add-ons. It's essential. Don't say I didn't warn you! This Letterpress Starter Kit will be available for pre-order soon on the Scrapy Land web-site, and will include all you need to get started. Ink, brayer, paper, plates, dies and spacers.

And speaking of bridal shower - YEP - I'm doing the wedding invitations as well. Look at these flourishes, swirls and doo-dads. Add in some monogram letters {available on another plate} and I'll be all set!

This is why I ordered the Epic 6 yesterday after I read Dani's post on the MB and sold one of my revolutions on ebay so I could afford the upgrade. *hehe* It's going to be like christmas when I get my order (s) because I've ordered a bunch of dies; the new exclusives & the new go kreate boo the bear dies. YAY! Is the $69.99 for the letter press the club price--do you know? That's the price Dani said on the MB yesterday and if so does the ink last long?
NoleyBelle...the price of $69.99 is what is out from QK, don't know yet what specials stores will be able to do. I'm sure Dani will keep you all updated! You know Dani though - he'll go to bat for you ladies, looking for the BEST DEAL he can wrangle!
As far as the ink - let me get to CHA and ask those specific questions. It looks to me {just me, my guess} that the starter kit will come with a "starter tube" of ink. So we can decide on colors on our own.
But I will ask those questions for you...have no fear! :)
Thanks susan!
I am intrigued with the letter press. Will be waiting to see what you find out at CHA.
I would love carole to share the instructions. Great layout

Back in 2005 I got some letterpress paper from EK Success & Autumn Leaves. I like the look and subtle texture, can't wait to play and make some on my own... It seems like it would work very well for making up multiple cards & adding sentiments later. What is the largest area that we can make? Thanks for all the info, can't wait to see more, more, more... :)
I can already tell this CHA is going to hurt my piggy bank! Maybe I can sneak my mom's Epic into my luggage when I go home...shhhh...don't tell her!
Hi Susan another great layout, would love Carol to share the instructions.

Definately, Carol please share the instructions. That is awesome!
