July 18, 2009 at 10:17 AM EPIC EUPHORIA...
has taken over my house this morning.
I admit - I'm a logo freak. I often buy things based on how cute/unique/classy their logo is. And I just LOVE this logo...so dang hip! This is on the top of the box.
The side of the box shows the machine itself. I'm not positive how they will ship...mine came inside of another brown box. My guess is they will all ship that way, because there isn't really a space for a shipping label...but that's just a guess!
Here is my "handle-less Revolution" stacked on top of the Epic box. For size reference purposes. It's substantial, to say the least. One thing I love...not a lot of wasted packaging. This box fits the 2 platforms and the one cutting plate and the machine. There are two small pieces of foam to cushion everything...but that's it! Thanks QuicKutz for designing the packaging as environmentally-friendly as possible!
And the EPIC! I tried to weigh it this morning, but it's too light to register on my bathroom scale. But all-in-all, the Epic feels about the same weight as the Revolution and the 12" platform together.
These are the two platforms that come in the box. Love that they are clearly labeled! For right now - I am going to call the dark one "ebony" and the light one "cloudy". You'll see why here in a second. {Remember - ebony and cloudy!}
When you flip the platforms over - you'll notice they have different shaped holes on the bottom. You'll always know which side is the right side - AND you can tell them apart no matter how they are laying on your scrap table! But watch this Susan-ism:
- CLOUDY & CIRCLE HOLES = CUTTING....C, C, C
- EBONY & EDGED HOLES = EMBOSSING...E, E, E
The platforms are SO NICELY sized...13"x 6". Look at how many QuicKutz border dies fit across the cutting platform! Eighteen 2x2 dies fits here, and three 4x4 dies. LOVE IT! And just think of the Cookie Cutter dies!!
Here is one last look {my feet were scorching, standing on the pavement barefoot!} at the whole shootin' match! Ain't it so purtty!
OH - and the handle. LOVE THE HANDLE. I've never been told I have dainty hands...man-hands is more like it! So I admit, I was a bit worried when I saw the built-in handle. I was sure it would be too small for me. But it is perfect! It carries comfortably and easily - nothing jiggled {on the machine - LOL!} as I walked outside. Only the handle swung back and forth slightly! {anyone up for Scrapy Land hand tattoos?}

Susan,
I watched the video earlier this morning. The ones arrive at Dani's include mine. I can't wait to get it and to start playing with it. I never thought of how you could put more than one border die on the platform. All kinds of new ideas!
Thanks for showing us!
did you have any trouble with the die's slipping since its not magnetic? i posted on the mb, still on the fence, but i am so tempted on purchasing! especially with the gift set offer
thanks
yasmin
Hi Yasmin - WELCOME to Scrapy Land's blog!! I just ran a bunch of Cookie Cutter dies thru the Epic and had no trouble.
I laid the dies down, covered each one with a hunk of paper and then sandwiched the cutting mat on top. Nothing moved...BUT if it did, that's what is so great about the clear top, I'd be able to catch it before it cut half a shape...COOL STUFF!
The deal right now is so awesome...great price, rebate and FREE DIE!!!! Love it!!
:D
Hi Susan, I read the instructions on the quickutz site, and to me it seems that you need another one of the cutting mats for cutting sizzix steel rule dies (just like you use 2 B-mats in the cuttlebug)... so no third lime green platform, just two clear cutting mats... lol hth
Angelique - I'm pretty sure you're right. The more I read it I think you're right. Two of the same cutting mats...just one as a bottom "platform" and one as the cutting mat!
DANG and I was so hoping the bonus plate would be lime green! AHHH - a girl can dream can't she!!
:)
By the way - if you're wondering what we are talking about - the QK website has cutting info available for the Epic...see it here...www.quickutz.com/epic
:)
Hi Susan, so what do you do with the Revolution that are already owned. I'm really undecided. I just got my Rev for Christmas. I do have a use for the hand tool and it, but a third machine would mean that somethings gotta go:(
I can't wait to receive mine. Love that you took it outside for a little outing! I want to take in for an outing on the deck by the pool! LOL
Thanks for all the sharing.
Susan you look like your having great fun with your Epic.
I think it would have been a good idea to have it hug the work top like the Cuttlebug to free up your hands.
For me >> I'll be sticking to my Big Shot...Have Fun with your epic.. 6x6 dies.. can't wait!!!
Househund - funny thing, I have a Cuttlebug and I can't stand the "suction cup" feet. Here in AZ they never grip anything...too dry I guess...until it's time to put it away and the flaps are closed. THAT is when it will decide to grip. So that is one feature I always "dis" about the Cuttlebug.
Funny how opinions differ isn't it! PLUS does having suction grippies really free up your hands? I don't know if I could roll anything thru any machine with just one hand. Feels a bit awkward. Again, maybe it's just me!!
Glad you are enjoying your Big Shot though...it's a great machine and I do use it often! When you get right down to it...it's not the machines that matter...it's the DIES!! ENJOY!!!
My cuttlebug never grips either... that's why I won't regret getting rid of it in favor of the Epic.. I hope it will be available over here soon... shipping from the US is too much of a pain money and customs wise...
